A glint of red in the shadows, the snap of a twig in the darkness, the growing sense of dread that makes you realize... You will never leave alive.
Info
The story of the guardians ends when the wolves of the Corka Vicana are called into action by a stolen pup of the Guardians of Life. Envy betrayed all she ever knew in order to put an end to the fighting once and for all. Fear, Rage, Light, and other high ranking Life and Darkness wolves were killed. Only Shadow and Nightmare lived to go on to create The Shadow. But the time of the Guardians had come to its end... Unless... What if Envy never went to see Mystic Mystery? What if... Nightmare never stole her as a pup in the first place? What if, Darkness still reigned with Fear as its king?
*The Guardians*
Guardians of Life
The first Life Guardians were the remaining members of Koa Pack after Darkness's betrayal. Kilra(Koakilra) was the final koa alpha, but not the first guardian of life. In the beginning, she was against the idea and just wanted to be a pack. Which is why Guardians of Life are structured similar to a pack. Her packmates and those that joined her after the battle against Darkness and her allies were the first ones to call themselves guardians of life. Guardians both of the idea of life and the forest they lived in, and guardians of Kilra, whose name meant life. They started out merely upholding Koa Pack's values until, over the generations, their goal blurred and became distorted. Now, their sole purpose is to fight against the Guardians of Darkness and keep them forever in their wasteland prison.
Guardians of Life can vary in powers. Leaders will always have the reader ability as they are always direct descendants of Kilra herself. Other common powers include seer, nature element based, light element based, sky based, dream and illusion based, and truth powers.
The leader is always a direct descendant of Kilra, but the previous leader usually trains all who are eligible and lets them choose if they want the title. Beyond that are two second in commands, two wolves over the fighters, one wolf in charge of hunting/obtaining food, two wolves in charge of pups, one wolf over scouts, as well as those under the mentioned roles.
Guardians of Darkness
The Guardians of Darkness were originally made up of Dark and her allies banded together in an attempt to overthrow Kilra and anyone who supported her so Dark could be alpha. At a crucial point, however, Dark betrayed nearly everyone and their purpose for her. She wanted to rule the whole valley, without being her uncle's puppet. This action caused some of them to switch sides and, in the end, became her downfall. When she and her followers were defeated, Kilra refused to kill her, but instead, banished her to the Shadow Forest and the canyon beyond. After Kilra's death, wolves who had learned they could live in the sky and control cloud movements made it so the clouds were forever locked above the Shadow Forest and the canyon as further punishment for things she did after being banished. This caused the land to be shrouded in shadows with the only light coming from flashes of lightning that frequently strike the tall cone shaped pillars of stone.
Powers among the Guardians of Darkness vary greatly. Due to the persistent ash clouds, many new powers develop here first and many powers are stronger here than in the valley beyond. The leader almost always has an emotion power. Elemental powers are common as are power combinations that are very rare among the other factions. Also due to the ash clouds, defects are more common among pups and only the strongest make it to adulthood.
The leader is always a direct descendant of Dark and usually has a powerful emotion power. Ranks under each leader vary, but the roles are fairly similar to other factions and packs.
Sky Wolves
Sky Wolves(Guardians of The Sky) are a very specialized faction. Using their powers and the vials of ash around their necks, they can traverse the sky on clouds. Some spend their whole lives living in the clouds without ever setting foot on the ground. Granted, these wolves often don't live as long as other guardian faction wolves. The first Sky Guardians came from the Sky Readers of Koa pack. Starlight and others that would follow her left after the second confrontation with Dark. She led her following to a most unlikely of places: the sky. She was the first to discover how to use the ash to boost their powers and allow them to do things that would not normally be possible. Throughout the generations, Sky Wolves and Guardians of Life have been close allies. It is the Sky Wolves who constantly ensure that the Shadow Forest and Dark Place remain darkened.
Sky Wolves have powers that center around sky elements. Some can control the air while others can control cloud movements. Others have weather powers or powers related to the sun, moon, or stars. Other powers do appear, but are much less common than ground wolves.
Sky Wolves are structured like a pack with a leader or two, second-in-command(usually a sibling), and other more simple ranks. A few, such as Border Watchers, have more specialized roles. Border Watchers are charged with patrolling along the border and ensuring everything is well and that the cloud formations are stable along the border.
Sea Wolves
A recently rediscovered faction. The Sea Wolves were founded long before the other guardian factions when Sea Pack vanished during the Pack War. They lived in seclusion in and around the sea for more than a thousand years before recently being discovered again. They are neutral in the conflict on land and have no wish to participate in a war.
Their powers are primarily water based, but there are also other powerful elements and abilities. A few, like some Corka Vicana wolves, have the ability to bend space in order to create passages from one place to another. In sense, they had the ability to watch everything during the generations of guardian factions.
Ranks among the sea wolves resemble a giant pack or clan. There is one leader, but multiple under leaders. The main leader is always a descendant of the alpha lineage of Sea Pack and carries the ancestral name 'Barro'. Other ranks under leaders include: Hunters, seekers, watchers, protectors, diggers, surfacers, wanderers, pup watchers, and cleaners. Other odd jobs around the territory are done by cleaners which are more or less dignified omegas.
Arintorin Wolves
The Arintorin are a group of wolves that isolate themselves from the other guardian factions. No one knows where they came from exactly, but many suspect they are the descendants of the memory wolves from the old packs. Arintorin wolves usually have memory abilities and know both ancient wolf and common wolf. In written and spoken form. Several also speak bear. They record history, lineages, and other important documentations in memory and written form. They are bold wolves who would even dare crossing the border to gain information and to discover. Their faction structure is loose with a few lead Arintorin wolves and the rest of the ranks based on skill, power, and experience.
Other Factions
Other factions exist, but are smaller and more scattered than the ones above. For the most part, wolves live in family groups with no set leader and many are nomadic. Others will band together based on their powers. Few of these 'factions' aid the Guardians of Life, but many will join them from an outside faction. Powers in these factions range across all known and unknown powers and ranks vary from one to the other.
